Rémy Martin Extra was introduced in the 1920s but was discontinued shortly after WWII broke out. Rémy Martin Extra resurfaced again in 1975 as Rémy Martin Extra Centaure and remained in production until the release of Rémy Martin Centaure de Diamant in 2010.

Several years after its introduction, the name changed into Rémy Martin XO Special which itself was replaced by Rémy Martin XO Excellence in 2003.

In 1936 the glass decanter was replaced by a cristal version produced by Baccarat, Saint-Louis and Sèvres. The production of Rémy Martin Louis XIII is limited to 10.000 bottles annually.

This presentation of Remy Martin Louis XIII Very Old was produced between 1969 and 1978, bottled in a Baccarat decanter, delivered in a red octagonal box with a card of the battle of Jarnac.
