This rare pure malt from Suntory was bottled at Yamanishi and is believed to be a vatting of Hakushu and Yamazaki single malts with 90% of the vats consisting of Hakushu whisky. The red Japanese characters on the middle of the bottle label translates to “Direct Fired” which refers to the distillation technique the distillery uses to refine the whisky. They then employ an innovative bamboo charcoal filtration system and a traditional fermentation process using ‘Kioke Shikomi’ which translates to ‘Matured in Wooden Tubs”. An interesting technique indeed considering Kioke is a tub generally used for making sake.

Distilled in 1981, this expression is the complementary bottling to the Suntory 1991 Furudaru Shiage and with the series finishing in 1999, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to source. We believe it was bottled in 2005, making the malt 24 years old.

The discontinued Rémy Martin Grande Reserve was the second-oldest expressions available from this famous cognac house. It was made with an assemblage of extremely old eau-de-vie from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne and was second only to the rarest product of Rémy: The legendary Louis XIII. Black frosted bottles do appear on auctions occasionally but this Baccarat decanter is a rare sight.

This is the oldest Barrett's Bourbon known, aged over 21 years, distilled in 1969, bottled in 1990.

The Macallan Harmony Collection’s first iteration, Rich Cacao, comprises whisky that has spent an unspecified time in ex-Sherry American and European oak casks. Created in collaboration with Spanish pastry chef, Jordi Roca, the expression is housed in a recyclable and biodegradable presentation box, made using natural by-products in the chocolate-making process such as discarded husks from cacao pods.

Non-chill filtered and bottled at a 114.2 proof, the 2021 Limited Edition Small Batch features a 16-year-old Bourbon from the OBSV recipe, a 14-year-old OBSQ, a 12-year-old OESK, and a 16-year-old OESV. Only Four Roses combines two mashbills with five proprietary yeast strains to create 10 distinct Bourbon recipes. Each recipe brings something different to the batch – and carefully mingling them allows us to achieve an endless range of flavor profiles to please any Bourbon lover. This is one of 4944 bottles.

Jo Blackburn Kentucky Straight Bourbon was distilled and bottled in Kentucky, by Heaven Hill, between the 1960's and 1990's. In 1894 Benedict Joseph (B. J.) Semmes told a U.S. Senate committee investigating the Whiskey Trust: “We began business in 1819 in Washington, D.C., and built the first brick storehouse on south side of Pennsylvania Avenue, between the Capitol and the Treasury Department, and built the Yannissee Distillery in 1823 on Yannissee Creek, Maryland, within sight of the dome of the Capitol.” The Semmes clan called their whiskey “Yannissee” at that time.

This one has been bottled in 1996.

A true legend in overproof rums Lemon Hart 151 is the gold standard sought after and coveted by rum enthusiasts worldwide. Many rum aficionados believe that there simply is no substitute for Lemon Hart 151, blended to exacting standards from an age-old recipe of select high proof Demerara rums. This is the old presentation which we estimate was bottled at the end of the 1970s.

Rémy Martin V.S. Grand Cru Petite Champagne has been aged twice a long as required. Released in the early 1990's and available until 2007 by when V.S. Grand Cru got replaced by V.S. Supérieur.

This is the Four Roses 2020 Limited Edition Small Batch, a blend of 4 batches aged between 12 and 19 years: a 12-year-old Bourbon which is from the distillery’s OBSV recipe, a 16-year-old OESK, a 12-year-old OESV and a 19-year-old OBSK. This is one of 4560 bottles.

Bacardi 151° was the strongest expression Bacardi ever produced, first released in 1963, at that time produced from Brazilian melasse at the Bacardi Recife distillery which itself was opened in 1961. This is the old presentation, bottled around 2000.

Sadly discontinued in 2016 as part of an image clean-up.

Very Olde St. Nick Ancient Cask Lot No.12 was created especially for the Japanese market. This Bourbon was distilled between 1980 and 1985 and bottled some 10-15 years later.

This Meukow Extra dates from the 1980's and is bottled in a Limoges decanter. Meukow Extra is the second oldest quality which Meukow produced.

Compass Box Enlightenment is a limited edition expression, consisting of just 5,922 bottles. This blended malt whisky’s distillery make up is: 36.7% from Glentauchers, 10.8% from Balblair and 4.3% from Mortlach distilleries combined with 48.2% whisky from Clynelish, all aged in a first-fill bourbon cask. Enlightenment is bottled at 46% ABV and is both non-chill filtered and of natural color. Enlightenment was released in 2016.

The Peat Monster was born out of a limited bottling titled simply, The Monster, that the company produced for the Park Avenue Liquor Shop in New York. Such was its popularity, that The Peat Monster was rolled out as a permanent bottling in 2003. The blend comprises peated Islay whiskies from Laphroaig and Caol Ila, along with Lediag and Ardmore single malts. The peat is balanced out by a small amount of Highland whisky and aged in French oak.

This bottle predates the 2009 outlawing of the use of "vatted malt" in reference to blended malts on whisky labels.
