Leroy Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru 2007 (75cl)
Good deep red. Wild, slightly reduced aromas of musky raspberry, game and earth. Then juicy and gripping on the palate but still quite tight and not yet revealing its inherent complexity. This fascinating, primary, mineral- and soil-driven wine needs a good decade of cellaring (Vinious 01-03-2010 / 93+).

d'Auvenay Auxey Duresses Les Clous 2011 (75cl)
Lalou Bize-Leroy is the first lady of Burgundy, and Domaine D'Auvenay is a most special place to her. From the importer: "Domaine d’Auvenay is an old hunting lodge and the home Lalou shared with her late husband, Marcel. Lalou lives on a plateau overlooking the working farm, where barley and corn are grown. Under the d’Auvenay label, Lalou produces biodynamic, estate-grown village, 1er and Grand Cru wines. These small-batch wines display supreme elegance and precision, with a richness that is both complex and easy to digest. This is her labor of love, where she exhibits the entirety of her wine growing and wine making abilities, producing truly perfect wines."

Coche-Dury Meursault-Perrières 2010 (75cl)
This is brilliant. Incredibly complex mélange of Bartlett pear fruit and innumerable minerals and delicate herbs. Pale and gorgeous. Steely yet not at all austere. Arguably the ultimate Perrières. Mature and at peak and no oxidation.

DRC La Romanée-Conti 2009 (75cl)
La Romanée-Conti Grand Cru is a monopole vineyard of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and is often singled out as Burgundy’s greatest terroir. Originally called Cros des Cloux, this hallowed vineyard has a long and illustrious history, but its more modern era began with the first new vintage bottling from DRC in 1952, after replanting of the vines in 1947-48. The 2006 displays floral aromatics on the nose, together with raspberry, spice and earthy nuances.

Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Blanc 2021 (75cl)
Aged in four used barrels, the 2021 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru Blanc has quite a pithy, honeysuckle and melted wax-scented bouquet, very different from other Chardonnays (sometimes more like a fine Pinot Blanc from Alsace!) The palate is very well balanced with a slight viscosity, lively, spicy with ginger and lemongrass, very feisty on the finish. Lovely. (Vinious 91-93).

Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Blanc 2020 (150cl)
There is a subtle note of petrol is present on the admirably pure and cool aromas of apple, pear, lemon-lime and mineral reduction. The succulent, concentrated and almost painfully intense larger-scaled flavors brim with both dry extract and an almost aggressive stoniness that adds a sense of lift to the powerful yet refined, chalky and youthfully austere finale. Like the '21 version, this compact, bone-dry and borderline tannic effort is clearly very backward, and I would expect an almost glacial evolution in bottle though it should be well worth the wait. A classic Musigny blanc. Allen Meadows, Burghound.com (91), June 2023.

DRC Montrachet 2007 (75cl)
As the late picking date would suggest, this is a very ripe and wonderfully nuanced wine with a brilliantly complex nose of white peach, pear, exotic yellow fruits, acacia blossom and citrus hints that complement perfectly the rich and monumentally constructed flavors that possess an almost chewy texture yet the mouth feel is one of satin and silk, all wrapped in a palate staining mildly toasty finish that displays impeccable balance and incredible length. To call this a knockout seems almost like faint praise but it is one genuinely stunning wine that should live for 30 to 40 years. (97 points Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, June 2010).

DRC Montrachet 2009 (150cl)
My first Montrachet from Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. Expectations were very high allthough I’m not at huge fan of the 2009 vintage. I must say that I was truly impressed by this Montrachet … tasted side by side with the otherwise outstanding Montrachet 2009 from Lafon. The nose offer expressive yellow orchard fruits – white peach, mango and pineapple – slight hints of honey and hazelnuts supported by an intense minerality. On the palate very rich and intense, but very well balanced by a fine acitidty for the vintage. It offers tremendous depth and length – overshadowing the Lafon. A mighty Montrachet … power and refinement combined. Extraordinary (97-98 points) Steen Öhman April 29, 2016. Content 150cl.

Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Blanc 2015 (75cl)
The white wines from Musigny shares the style and minerality from its red brother from this vineyard. The energy is the same, and while the fruit is generous and lavish with quite some exotic fruit in the bouquet it still has some of the same juicy freshness offered by the red wines. This wine is not structured like other whites … it’s structured like a Musigny with its inherent powerful energy. Yes it’s a rich white .. but beautifully focused and energized by the mighty limestone minerality of the terroir. The acidity is sufficient and the fine PH is doing a fine job balancing the freshness.

Coche-Dury Corton-Charlemagne 2016 (75cl)
A background note of matchstick character is present on the ripe citrus, spiced green apple and airy white flower aromas. There is good if not massive size and weight to the rich, fleshy and mouth coating large-scaled flavors that evidence obvious power while brimming with minerality on the almost painfully intense and sneaky long finish where the only nit is a hint of warmth. As is often the case with the Coche Corton-Charlemagne, it is built for the very long-term and it wouldn't surprise me if 20 years was necessary to see this at its full maturity. (Burghound 96).

Niepoort 1952 Garrafeira
The second generation of the Niepoort family, in the late 19th century, had the fortunate idea of purchasing some 4000 glass balloons (in the form of old apothecaries’ bottles) of dark-green glass with varying capacities from 8 to 11 liters.
Eduard Karel Jacob van der Niepoort sadly died early and it was his son, Eduard Marius van der Niepoort, Dirk’s grandfather, who gave purpose to the demijohns by bottling the best wines of the 1931 harvest, thus creating the type “Garrafeira Niepoort”.

Whitwhams 1853 Millennium Port King Pedro V Royal Reserve
The story of Whitwhams 1853 Millennium Port: “Some Douro farmers have hidden treasures. Old Ports that lay in cask, undisturbed in family cellars throughout generations, sometimes crossing several centuries. This rare wine was produced by the Cavaleiro family in the Upper Douro to celebrate the coronation of King Pedro V of Portugal, in the middle of the XIXth century. Just over one pipe of this wine has lain undisturbed in the same family hands ever since. After nearly one and a half century in the cask, the time has come for the wine to be bottled and for it to be enjoyed in the 21st century, the new Millennium. The wine finally made its way down the Douro in February 2001 and was bottled by Niepoort in their Vila Nova de Gaia lodges.”

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Blanc 2018
The 2018 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Blanc Grand Cru, which is aged in 20% new oak, is lucid silver in color. Its gorgeous bouquet features scents of lemon thyme, mirabelle, orange zest and touches of crushed stone, conveying energy and tension. A menthol note emerges with time in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with peach, lemon curd, almond and praline notes. Not exotic but sensual and beautifully defined.
