Camus 'Révolution Française 1789-1989' was created to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the 1789 French Revolution. The scene reproduced on it represents a famous episode of the French revolution, the oath of the ‘Jeu De Paume’ on june 20, 1789. The deputies of the “Tiers-État” swear to not recess without having given a constitution to France. Having been forbidden access to their normal conference hall by Louis XVI, they assembled in a neighboring hall, the ‘Jeu De Paume’.
