The second in a new Duty Free only series launched in 2017, "Lumina" is matured in European and American Sherry-seasoned barrels and Macallan hogsheads. Reportedly it's a nice alternative to the sweeter sherried whiskies on the market. Expect a bold, zesty style with notes of apples, creamy vanilla, wood spice and warming ginger.

Telling the story of Scotland’s world-famous Hogmanay festivities celebrated annually on 31st December, A Night on Earth in Scotland captures the universal joy of celebrating the change of year. This 2022 seasonal release is a collaboration with acclaimed Japanese-French illustrator Erica Dorn, whose artwork has featured in director Wes Anderson’s films.

The single malt is presented in unique packaging to provide a special unboxing experience and Dorn’s playful abstract illustrations are inspired by the historic fire rituals dominant in New Year celebrations around the world.

This special single malt is inspired by the Ethiopian Arabica bean. Ethiopia is claimed to be the birthplace of coffee as the Arabica bean was the first species of coffee to be cultivated. ​​

With a distinct coffee flavor, this whisky exudes notes of espresso, dark chocolate and sweet oak. The intensely flavored single malt invites you to immerse yourself in a sensory journey through flavor and aroma.

This 26 year old Macallan, part of Douglas McGibbon's 'The Vault' series, was bottled October 2019 for Y's Cask, Tokyo. This is one of just 181 bottles.

Shirakawa King Extra is a blended whisky, bottled in the 1970s, containing not just Japanese whisky but also Scotch Malt whisky from Aberlour, Laphroaig and Macallan.

Shirakawa Single Malt is amongst the rarest of it's kind on the planet. The final remaining Shirakawa vintage malt was identified in Takara Shuzo’s Kurokabegura in 2019. The liquid had been distilled in 1958, aged in cask, then transferred to ceramic jars at the distillery. When Shirakawa closed, it was put into stainless steel tanks at Takara Shuzo’s factory in Kyushu where it lay untouched until 2019. This whisky was bottled and released on the market on 13th September 2022.

According to experts there is no other Single Malt Shirakawa known to exist but yet we have one: Shirakawa King Whisky Pure Malt 12 years old, not to be confused with the blended Shirakawa which was sold under the same name, often containing Scottish malts from Aberlour, Macallan and Laphroaig. This bottle appears to be a 1980's release and, as such, it's highly unlikely it does containing anything else then Shirakawa Pure (Single) Malt.

This is a very rare Macallan, vintage 1973, bottled for Japan. As this contains 43% ABV one would expect this to be a distillery release, but there is no sign of such to be found on the bottle.

This is the 2021 release of The Essence of Suntory, distilled at Suntory’s Yamazaki distillery in 2009, and bottled in 2021 after more than a decade in American Oak casks. It’s made using Golden Promise barley, whose profile might be familiar to fans of The Macallan.

Golden Promise is a brand name of malt most famously associated with The Macallan, who used it exclusively during the 1960s and 70s. In Japan, the Karuizawa Distillery started using the same brand once they were allowed to import barley from overseas, rather than use domestic.

Founded in 1887 the reknown Raffles Hotel Singapore celebrated the centenary a year early to coincide with the Year of the Tiger. We assume it was for this occasion that The Macallan crafted this very special Highland Malt Scotch Whisky.

Only a handful of these bottles have become available for sale in the past 10 years, mostly via action, some via high-end retail. One of the bottles was on display at The Macallan Experience which could be found at the Raffles from 26 October 2020 to 9 May 2021.
