Since it's introduction in 1874 Louis XIII de Rémy Martin has been Rémy's most prestigious cognac, a blend composed of 1200 different cognacs which matured in wood between 40 and 100 years, bottled in a decanter which was shaped after a ancient Venetian bottle found on a Jarnac battlefield in the 19th century. In 1936 the glass decanter was replaced by a cristal version produced by Baccarat, Saint-Louis and Sèvres. The production of Rémy Martin Louis XIII is limited to 10.000 bottles annually.

This old presentation of Remy Martin Louis XIII Brand Rarest Reserve was sold in the USA between 1963 and 1968, bottled in a Baccarat decanter, delivered in a red octagonal box and accompanied by a card stating this Cognac was served to King George V and Queen Elizabeth at Versailles in July 1938 and again in April 1957 when Queen Elizabeth visited France.

Rémy Martin is one of the four biggest Cognac houses, founded in 1724 by French winemaker Rémy Martin. Until the 1920's Rémy Martin played a modest role in the world of Cognac but this changed with the introduction of Rémy Martin VSOP in 1927. Cognac Rémy Martin contains only grapes from the two most appraised terroirs: Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne.
