Hanyu Golden Horse was launched in 1948, the very first whisky sold under the supervision of Tao Shuzo. Usually these are blended whiskies but this one is a genuine Hanyu Single Malt, bottled at cask strength in 2004.

Distilled at Chichibu distillery on the 12th of January 2010 before being bottled at 8 years old from a 1st fill ex-bourbon barrel by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. This has been given the name 'Tropical Thunder.' This is one of 191 bottles.

This Yamazaki 1993 Pure Malt Tarudashi (straight from the barrel) Gensyu (original spirit) is a discontinued distillery-exclusive bottling. The neck label says Winter 1993 so we assume this was distilled in the last part of 1993.

Shirakawa Single Malt is amongst the rarest of it's kind on the planet. The final remaining Shirakawa vintage malt was identified in Takara Shuzo’s Kurokabegura in 2019. The liquid had been distilled in 1958, aged in cask, then transferred to ceramic jars at the distillery. When Shirakawa closed, it was put into stainless steel tanks at Takara Shuzo’s factory in Kyushu where it lay untouched until 2019. This whisky was bottled and released on the market on 13th September 2022.

According to experts there is no other Single Malt Shirakawa known to exist but yet we have one: Shirakawa King Whisky Pure Malt 12 years old, not to be confused with the blended Shirakawa which was sold under the same name, often containing Scottish malts from Aberlour, Macalland and Laphroaig.. This bottle appears to be a 1980's release and, as such, it's highly unlikely it does containing anything else then Shirakawa Pure (Single) Malt.

Suntory Pure Malt 12 years old was introduced in 1986. This is the first release with the Suntory Mukai Shishi logo which was renewed in 1990.

A blended whisky from the Japanese master distiller, and founder of Chichibu distillery Ichiro Akuto, this release was bottled for Japanese supermarket Seijo Ishii. This expression blends together malt and grain whiskies, maturing this spirit in a single bourbon barrel #5761 for an undisclosed length of time. Part of a limited release of 230 bottles, this whisky has been bottled at a strength of 56.6% abv.

Yamazaki 2020 Mizunara Japanese Oak Cask is one of 5 different Yamazaki expressions which were launched 4th November 2020. These were not for sale in regular stores, where you would expect them, but in a number of selected bars instead. Mizunara was obviously the most sought-after one, selling at nearly three times the price at introduction and shortly afterwards much higher on the secondary market.
