Yamazaki 2020 Mizunara Japanese Oak Cask is one of 5 different Yamazaki expressions which were launched 4th November 2020. These were not for sale in regular stores, where you would expect them, but in a number of selected bars instead. Mizunara was obviously the most sought-after one, selling at nearly three times the price at introduction and shortly afterwards much higher on the secondary market.

Suntory Age Unknown Henkotsu Nankotsu is a 1994 limited release of 300 bottles, selected from the finest barrels in the Yamazaki aging warehouses in celebration of the life of Keizo Saji, and a book written by him. This is the 2nd release Age Unknown, containing Yamazaki distilled in the 1960's which was thus 30+ years old when it was bottled.

Suntory Pure Malt was released in March 1984 as a no-age-statement whisky, purportedly distilled in 1972 and as such 12 years old. According to chief blender Ken Sato the development of Pure Malt's flavor profile took two years. Suntory would add a 12-year age statement to the label in 1986 and continue to release Pure Malt until 2004 by when it was replaced by the infamous Yamazaki 12 year old Single Malt.

Suntory President's Choice was selected and blended by Keizo Saji, born in Osaka in 1919 as the second son of Shinjiro Torii, founder of Kotobukiya. He became president of Kotobukiya in 1961, and officially renamed it to Suntory Limited in 1963, paying tribute to the success of Suntory Whisky a.k.a. Kakubin.

This very special Yamazaki was bottled in 2011 in commemoration of the 55th anniversary of the Arima Kinen horse race, held annually since December 1956. Its label depicts a pair of Inu (dogs), one of the twelve signs of the Japanese zodiac.

Suntory Nazo Aegis was bottled 8th June 2005 for the Mystery Writers of Japan. Created by Mr. Harutoshi Fukui, the author of the movie "Aegis of the Exiled''. From 2000 until 2004 these Nazo releases where blends of 70% Yamazaki and 30% Chita, from 2005 these contain just Yamazaki.

Suntory Nazo Special Marriage Whisky is a limited release for Mystery Writers of Japan (MJW). Bottled June 17, 2000 from cask EG 8001. The secret blend contains 70% sherried Yamazaki from the 1990s and 30% grain whiskey, selected and blended by Osawa Arimasa of the Japan Association of Mystery/Detective Novelists.
