Rouyer Guillet was founded in 1701 by Philippe Guillet, the former mayor of Cognac. In 1801 the name of the company changed to Rouyer-Guillet, this due to a marriage. That very same year the new company moved to the nearby city of Saintes. In 1992 ownership of Rouyer Guillet transferred to CCG which, so it seems, decided to discontinue this ancient brand.
