This particular Rémy Martin Extra is a 35-year old Grande Fine Champagne Cognac, the last release consisting of 100% Grande Champagne. Rémy Martin Extra was introduced in the 1920's but seemingly disappeared around 1940. Extra was re-introduced in 1975 under the name Extra Centaure. Extra remained available under a number of different names until 2010. We believe this black frosted bottle was launched in 1979 and remained available until the introduction of Extra Perfection, some ten years later.

Rémy Martin is one of the four biggest Cognac houses, founded in 1724 by French winemaker Rémy Martin. Until the 1920's Rémy Martin played a modest role in the world of Cognac but this changed with the introduction of Rémy Martin VSOP in 1927. Cognac Rémy Martin contains only grapes from the two most appreaised terroirs: Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne.
