Kweichow Moutai 1978-1982 Kuíhuā
In 1968 the Revolutionary Committee of Kweichow Moutai Distillery announced the replacement of the Feitian export label by a new logo depicting a sunflower (Kuíhuā). A total of 4 different designs of the sunflower were drawn, one of them depicting of a big-leaf sunflower, designed by the Guiyang City Arts and Crafts Research Institute. Initially the big-leaf sunflower was chosen and some labels were printed but almost instantly rejected and replaced by the final choice which became known as the small-leaf sunflower. The sunflower brand was registered March 30, 1968.
On April 29th 1973 the distillery was ordered to cancel the sunflower labels by replacing them by Feitian labels, thereby restoring the situation as it used to be before 1968. Eventually it took until 1976 before the situation was completely restored. According to old files the sunflower brand was used once more between 1978 and 1982, the bottles from that period are called "half catty" which are essentially 270ml bottles. Notable feature is that these were released without ribbon.

Laurent Merlin Hors-Pair
Aged 60 years in casks, this cognac is a blend of the finest eaux-de-vie from Archiac, a town known for the quality of its soils in the Petite Champagne area.
Laurent Merlin was established in 1870 in Arthenac by Laurent’s grandfather, Laurent Merlin (born ca. 1853) and has been in the family ever since. After Laurent it was Oscar (1885-1962), followed by Laurent. After Laurents demise in the late 1990s, his daughter Carmen was in charge. For the first few years she has produced new cognacs (VSOP, Vieille Réserve), but in the 2010s she started selling the stocks and sold the vineyards too. The Hors Pair was among the last bottles still available and is sublime. And maybe a little uncommon for a bouilleur de cru, but they made several vintage cognacs too.
Laurent Merlin preferred working with restaurants and connoisseurs. He was supplier of numerous famous restaurants like Taillevent, La Tour d’Argent, Troisgros, Bocuse and Faugeron. Other clients were l’Assemblee Nationale, Le Sénat, Le Ministerie de l’Economie et des Finances, to name just a few.

Rémy Martin Louis XIII (1979-1989)
Since it's introduction in 1874 Louis XIII de Rémy Martin, initially known as Age Inconnu, has been Rémy's most prestigious cognac, a blend composed of 1200 different Grande Champagne cognacs matured between 40 and 100 years, bottled in a decanter which was shaped after a 16th century metal flask found on a Jarnac battlefield in 1850 which was purchased by Rémy Martin.
Between 1874 and 1920 Rémy Martin Age Inconnu was sold in glass decanters from Verrerie Royale de Saint Louis in Münzthal but these reproductions were far from perfect and as such the production was entrusted to Cristallerie de Baccarat from 1920 onwards.
This Remy Martin Louis XIII has been produced by Cristal St-Louis between 1979 and 1989. Due to the fact the cork stopper has broken this decanter has been discounted considerably. Perhaps not really suitable for collecting this is an opportunity to taste one of the world's finest Cognacs for an affordable price.

Kweichow Moutai 1966 WuXing Three Great Revolutions
Kweichow Moutai WuXing "Three Great Revolutions" entered the domestic market in May 1966 and remained in production until 1982. The Three Great Revolutions are the 1911 Revolution, the Chinese Communist Revolution, and the 1966 Cultural Revolution.
This particular Moutai is exceptionally rare as it is the "old-style' low-neck earthenware bottle, used from early 1952 to July 1966, sealed with a oak cork and with the "Three Great Revolutions" back label which itself was introduced in May 1966. As such we are able to determine this bottle was released between May and July 1966. As the annual output of Kweichow in 1966 did not exceed 300 tons, which is the case for this entire decade, it remains the rarest of all regular Moutai.
